How To Organize The Study Space For Success?

Maintaining an organised study space is absolutely essential. This creates a conducive learning environment which ensures that one can internalise information effectively. A study space can be created at home, or even outdoors. The place doesn’t matter, as long as it is something that one is comfortable with.

Some students who opt for online tutoring would prefer to have their learning space at home to be set up in an effective manner. Ever since the pandemic has begun, learning has become a home-based thing. This has caused many students to consider rearranging their study desk and work space to be more friendly towards productivity.

Here are some ways to organise your study space!

COMFORT

Study desk ergonomics is the top most factor that one needs to keep in mind. If you are going to sit on a chair for long hours, it is important to make sure that you get the right kind of desk, chair and wrist-rests in order to make sure that the study space is as comfortable as possible.

There are some considerations like the top of the table being aligned with your ribcage, and the laptop screen or external monitor’s screen being aligned with one’s eyesight. One should never hunch his or her shoulders when studying as this habit, if followed over a prolonged period of time may lead to sever shoulder and back pain.

ORGANISE YOUR BOOKS

Instead of taking books of the shelf one by one to search for a book that you need, the search process would be much more efficient if you had just organised them in a particular order in which you are comfortable in.

Some might choose to arrange their books in an alphabetical order, or some might do it according to the sizes of the books. Some might even choose to organise it according to the colour of the books’ cover. Whatever it may be, it will be easier for you to get the book that you need if you could arrange in a way in which makes it easy for you to grab it when required.

Organising files in your laptop is also equally as important. This will enable you to locate your important journals or textbooks easily without having to sieve through tonnes of files!

CLEAN IT UP!

Cleaning your desk after every study session is important. When you take a break and get back into another study session, going back to a messy table is not as study-friendly. A clean workspace would be more encouraging for one to study in and there will be less reluctance to get into a study-mode.

One helpful thing to do would be to keep a small desk dust cleaner near your table, a small dustbin to get rid of paper waste and maybe even a packet of wet tissues and Lysol to sanitise the area since you would spend long hours there. The cleaner the area, the more inviting the environment would be for you to study in!

SUPPORT

Studying all alone may not be as enjoyable if it is done for a long period of time. It would be great to have a study space that accommodates more than one person such that you can have a study buddy come over once in a while. Sometimes you might even want to talk to your family and friends about your study routine and the challenges you face in order to ask for some suggestions and possibly some tips on time management as well.

When you have a support system for yourself, the process of studying, no matter how challenging it is, would not be as arduous as it may seem!
